The Tesla Roadster is designed by Franz von Holzhausen. This sportscar has a two-seater configuration. It has a Triple motor, all-wheel drive layout. This car has a removable glass roof and 2+2 seating arrangement. The rear seats are smaller and made fit for two passengers. The car has an aerodynamic design, making it a high-performance machine. The car runs on three motors. One motor is on the front and two are at the rear end. The car features torque vectoring during cornering. The battery used in this car has a capacity of 200 kWh. The Roadster is claimed to have incredible performance specifications. Per Tesla, the supercar would reach 0 to 97 kmph in 1.9 seconds and 0 to 161 kmph in 4.2 seconds. The top speed of Roadster is more than 400 kmph. With these specs, the Roadster will break any supercar record as in 2017. The performance of Roadster will surpass of any sport car made till date.

Roadster can be personalized with rocket propulsion technology for demanding buyers.

Apart from the normal parameters, as Musk revealed, the car will have “SpaceX option package”. This additional package will improve the maneuverability of the car. This package comprises of ten cold gas thrusters and an electric pump. The car will have a same mechanism to that of rockets thrusting out compressed air through propelling nozzles. This technology is used in SpaceX rockets, which is a brainchild of Elon Musk. The unit improves acceleration, top speed, braking as well as cornering of the car.

Roadster 2020 base model would cost US $200,000. However, the first 1,000 units will cost US $250,000. This series is called as Founder’s Series. These cars are order only at full-payment. In 2017, the pre-ordering of Roadster 2020 started with a minimum deposit of US $50,000. Tesla also rolled out a referral program. If a buyer can provide 55 confirmed referrals, there would be 100% rebate for any Roaster purchase in future. Tesla Roadster was featured in Jay Leno’s Garage, Series 4.
