Some foods are just more expensive than others. But there are handful of items, which comes up with outrageous price tags. While, cost of such foods is largely dependent on the time and resource used to prepare them, some has a very limited supply. There are not those foods found in local food store.

Most of expensive foods are restricted to particular geographic area, where they are produced via hectic labor extensive processes. Here we have listed out some of the most expensive foods in the world.

Lindeth Howe Pudding ($34, 531 or $21,93,563 per pudding)

A Pudding that costs $35,000! It is made of high-end chocolate, gold, caviar and also two-carat diamond. The pudding served in Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel is the most expensive dessert in the world.

It is created by chef Marc Guibert. The hotel wanted it to be world record. This expensive pudding is designed like a Faberge Easter egg. Its layer is made of champagne jelly and a light biscuit. The finishing is done with bitter dark chocolate. The glaze in the pudding comes from real gold leaf. The two-carat diamond is placed in the center of this delicacy. The piece of diamond was supplied by Wave Jewelry of UK, an award-winning establishment. This pudding was bought by Carl Weininger as a treat for his 60th birthday. However, it was bought as a showpiece for a charity ball.

Almas Caviar ($34,000 or ₹21,59,831 per Tin)

Caviar is by far the most luxurious food in the world. It is the eggs of sturgeon fish, which is believed to enhance physical strength and endurance.

But caviar is one of the rarest items to find as sturgeons are on the breach of extinction. The Almas Caviar comes only from the albino beluga sturgeon. This species lives only in the Caspian Sea. That too only in the unpolluted areas near the costs of Iran. At present, there are only a few varieties of albinos left. Finding their eggs is a tough job. Furthermore, the Almas white eggs are produced by sturgeons that are more than 100 years old. They are aromatic, smooth and elegant looking. They have a spongier texture.

Almas Caviar is produced only by 100 years old albino beluga sturgeons, which are found only the Iranian coast of Caspian Sea.

European White Truffles ($3600 or ₹2,28,671 per pound)

European White Truffles is among the rarest kind of truffles. Truffles are found near the roots of specific trees. Truffles has been used as aphrodisiacs and medicines since early days in Europe.

They are irregular in shape with sizes from a walnut to that of a fist. The white Truffles are found only in the regions of Langhe and Montferrat of Piedmont region in northern Italy. They are around the countryside cities of Alba and Asti. They are harvested only in a couple of specific months throughout the year. Female pigs or truffle dogs are used to harvest truffles. The flavor of truffles is an element of its aroma.

In April of 2016, the Zillion dollar Lobster Frittata costed $1000. It included 10 ounces of Sevurga caviar, a lobster, six fresh eggs, cream, chives and lobster sauce. This Frittata or omelet is served over a heavy layer of Yukon gold potatoes.

It was made at Norma’s in Le Parker Meridien hotel. It was first presented in 2004. Norma’s made only 12 “Zillion Dollar Frittatas” in a year. The hotel wanted the dish to be an expensive one. They commented that the delicacy is not only made to look beautiful, but it is created to taste luscious. This is also famous as the most expensive omelet in the world. There is also a smaller version of this Frittata, which costs $100.

Nino's Bellissima Pizza ($1000 or ₹63,519 per Pizza)

This money eating pie was created by Nino Selimaj, the owner of Nino’s Bellissima Pizza of Manhattan. Its price starts from $1,000, becoming the most expensive pizza in the world.

The price of this pizza is added by the caviar, which costs $820. This pizza uses the caviar from Beluga and Russian Royal Sevruga. The flavor is also enhanced with sliced lobster and crème fraiche. The topping is done with salmon roll, chives and wasabi paste.
