The bottle is a product of a creative collaboration between the whiskey manufacturer and Pantone, who have together created a release that aims at creating a benchmark in terms of design, taste and feel.

Macallan as one of the only whiskies to use 100% natural color, The Macallan exceptional whiskies are characterized from their time spent in the very best casks; maturing, nurturing and developing unique flavors, aromas and hues. The Macallan Edition Purple, a uniquely bold and complex shade; reflecting an enigmatic, multi-faceted and intricate combination of color.

For Macallan Edition no. 5, the most expensive whisky in the world, the intricate combination of red and blue have been was what in their minds when Pantone Colour Institute, whom Macallan partnered with, create the exclusive purple color. Besides, purple is considered to be the most complex colour of the rainbow, and so it felt like the perfect shade for highlighting the similar complex procedure involved in creating whisky Macallan. This bottle of edition no.5 is without an age statement at 48.5% ABV, and also it carries an RRP of US$115. The bottle will be available only from select retailers as well as on-trade accounts. This rarest whisky in the world will be introduced in the U.S. and some of the selected global markets from September onwards with its initial price decided as $120 per bottle.

There will be an exhibition to be held in New York that would last for three days at the Oculus for the event ‘The Macallan Whisky & Color Experience’ where all the visitors will be shown how the most expensive whisky has been created and how it is inspired by the Macallan’s whisky-making process.
