Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Welcome Daughter Lilibet Diana
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex have been blessed with a baby girl on 4th of June 2021 at 11:40 am local time, weighing 7 lbs.11oz at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California. Early this year on the special occasion of valentine’s day they shared this good news to the world .
Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
The baby’s first name, Lilibet, is after to Her Royale highness The Queen Elizabeth II’s nickname that was given to her when she was just a toddler and could not pronounce her name. Her middle name is in the honour of her late grandmother and prince Harry’s mother Diana, Princess of Wales.
Lilibet is the Queen’s 11th great-grandchild and is eighth in line to the British throne which meaning Prince Andrew, who was born as second in line in 1960, moves down to ninth place.
Buckingham Palace has released an official statement stating, “The Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
Harry and Meghan had quit their roles as senior working royals in March 2020. Speaking last month, the duke said moving to the US had not been a part of the plan, but he felt he had to put his family and mental health first. As a result of this move, Lilibet is the most senior royal in the current line of succession to be born overseas and she would now be eligible to become president of the United States.
Like her elder brother Archie and most of the Queen’s great-grandchildren, she is not eligible to have a royal title.
Under rules that have been laid out more than 100 years ago, she would not be allowed to be a princess nor an HRH until Prince Charles becomes king.
