Eclipse: World’s Second Largest Private Yacht
When it comes to luxury private yacht, the Eclipse is reputed as the world’ second largest. It was developed for Roman Abramovich, the Russian billionaire. His net worth is USD 10 Billion. Built by Blohm + Voss of Germany, the design is developed by Terence Disdale. It is 162.5 meters long and its estimated cost is Euro 340 million.
The mega yacht is completed with two helicopter pads, two swimming pools, several hot tubs and a disco hall. It has a total of 24 guest cabins. For extended mobility it has three launch boats and a mini submarine. Eclipse require a total of 70 crew members on board any time. Other amenities and luxury features in this yacht are Beach Club, Deck Jacuzzi, Underwater Lights, Exterior bar and many others.
The ship has total nine decks. The top deck accommodates the landing pads for helicopters and garage, while the bottom deck is for swimming pool and sundeck. The main dining hall is located on the sixth floor. The main entrance is on the fourth floor. The disco club is on level one along with the engine and tool room. The decks are made of teak woods and the hull is created with aluminum superstructure. The interior feature rich art blended with technology and innovative luxury.

Technical features of the yacht include a missile detection system, rotor-based stabilization, and anti-paparazzi system. The missile detection system is an extensive security measure, while the stabilization system makes its cruising comfy. The anti-paparazzi system protects it from photographers and they canny lenses. The master suite belonging to Roman is protected by bullet proof glass and armor. The ship is built as a military vessel with equal power and safety feature. Eclipse has a top speed of 21 knots, and maximum range of 6,000 nautical mile. It has a fuel tank with a capacity of 1,000,000 liters.
Originally, the ship was launched on June 2009 and it was delivered to Abramovich a year and half latter. The actual contract price of Eclipse was USD 500 million, but the luxury additions and features make its valuation more than USD 1.5 Billion. Yearly expense in this ship is USD 75 million. The ship burns fuel amounting to USD 3000 per hour.
